Lieutenant Colonel Hyo (Jeana) Cho was born in Seoul, Korea and immigrated to the United States when she was 11 years old.  LTC Cho enlisted in the District of Columbia Army National Guard in 1998 and was commissioned as a Transportation Officer in 2004.  In Feb 2020, LTC Cho took Command of the 1225th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, Michigan Army National Guard, where she deployed to the United States European Command Area of Responsibility in support of Atlantic Resolve.

During her military career, LTC Cho supported various District, federal and overseas missions.  Her assignments include Supply Branch Chief, National Guard Bureau; Assistant Executive Officer, Vice Chief, National Guard Bureau; Aide-de-Camp, Chief, National Guard Bureau; Logistics Organizational Integrator, National Guard Bureau; Resident student, Marine Corps University Command and Staff College; Command Logistics Review Team, National Guard Bureau; Secretary of General Staff (SGS), DC Army National Guard; Battalion & Brigade Logistics Officer (S4); and Company Commander.  LTC Cho deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as a Platoon Leader in 2005-2006 and later as Company Commander in 2009-2010.

LTC Cho earned a B.A. in Spanish Language & Literature from University of Maryland at College Park, M.A. in Security Management from Webster University, and M.A. in Military Studies from Marine Corps University.  She received a Doctorate of Management in Organizational Leadership from University of Phoenix in 2011 with a dissertation entitled “Unspoken Leadership Development Tool:  A Phenomenological Study on Cross-race Mentoring in the United States Army.” 

LTC Cho has been a guest speaker at numerous leadership and training venues to promote diversity, mentorship, and leadership. She was also an Adjunct Professor at Southern New Hampshire University until she took Command in Feb 2020.
